Questions for "Digital Divide"

1. Bishop talks about how we today are able to just open up a file and edit it, whereas back in the day you would have to start over from scratch. Does that affect the quality and uniqueness [the overall artistic-ness of something] of a piece or is that just a norm to be accepted now days?

2."My point is that mainstream contemporary art simultaneously disavows and depends on the digital revolution, even—especially—when this art declines to speak overtly about the conditions of living in and through new media" -Bishop Bishop is trying to get across that art now days is so reliant on digital means, that he wonders why they don't speak and essentially promote the more modern digital aspects in the art work itself. because as said earlier in his essay, art right now is reverting back to the 'retro' of digital media whether than promoting the new innovative aspects of DM. What is your theory on this?
