Audio Tour: Remember the Book

This tour was suppose to touch upon the differences between books and their movie counter part. I've always had a strong feelings regarding books that have been made into movies. I believe that the book is always better. You don't get the same personal experience with a movie that you do with a book. For this project I took famous books that were converted to movies and read from them. The passing music you hear in it is from their movie counter part.

  1. I really enjoyed the connection between the narration and the location of your audio tour! All of the spoken words were very clear and articulate, which is often hard to achieve when you're just reading straight from a passage...and Harry Potter rules.

    Thanks!!

  2. I thought the passages were chosen very well, as they are pivotal points in the respective stories. I'm not sure the location was the best, but given the limits we had, it was probably the best choice. The tour was nice hit of nostalgia for the book worms of the group.

  3. Loved how the music matched with each book. It really made me listen while you were reading too - I feel like I have a hard time reading with emotion and you did a great job incorporating inflection into the piece. Nice work!

  4. It was truly surreal to hear these classic books in the library. I think the excerpts from the books were a little long, but I understand not wanting to cut out important parts. Very fun concept!

  5. This piece was so awesome! I loved trying to guess all the books, which were great choices by the way! I think I'd read them all except for the vampire one. Fight club is one of my favorite books. Great idea and delivery with your choices in sections and music!

  6. This piece worked out so amazingly, and made me want to read each book you chose to include right then and there. The timing at perhaps one or two of the interludes was off just a bit but otherwise perfect. I always enjoyed being read to as a kid (a remember one book that was read to my class in third great through the year in particular) and listening to these excerpts was very fun for me. I nearly cried during Hunger Games cause I'm such a wuss.

  7. This was one of my favorites. I had read some of those books and it made me want to read them or the others that you chose. Very good choices in books, quotes, and music. Good job!

  8. This piece was really immersive as I greatly enjoyed the books you read and the music you chose, with Harry Potter and Great Gatsby being one of my favorites. I loved how your piece also took some advantage over the areas you picked at the Knowledge Center. The one that stole the show was the Harry Potter part of the tour, when the music started playing the moment we walked into the foyer of the library. The fact that the library is already so grand helped add to the mental image that we were at Hogwarts. Really great piece!

  9. This piece attracted me to read the books. A good narration with the interesting music. I like you chose the location that was a appropriate connection with the books.

  10. What I appreciated the most about your work was how the music within the audio fed into the incorporated texts. Each musical addition gave off a clue as to what the proceeding text would be, which almost acted as a riddle to some. Music was also a clever addition to the piece as it branched together three elements: what is written, what is heard, and what is seen.

  11. As someone who always reads books before the movie, I felt a nostalgic connection with your piece. The setting was well chosen, and your intro and outdo were welcome thoughts to keep in mind and made the piece truly memorable.

  12. Great selection of source materials, picking a wide spread of popular books and movies is a great idea and of course I think you chose great passages. Lots and lots of walking, but it was all worth it, nice job.
